Strikeforce basically just stripped Shields

http://www.mmamania.com/2010/6/9/1509441/strikeforce-ceo-scott-coker-a
If Lawler beats Babalu on Wednesday he'll fight Jacare for the MW belt. This all but confirms Mr Shields is heading to the UFC.|||They said they are doing a tournament if Shields leaves... People need to quit talking as though Shields is already on the UFC roster as so many people have been doing.|||He all but is at this point though. Dana White said it. Scott Coker as accepted it. And the tournament was never more than the fantasy of journalists.|||Once again Dana bad mouths another fighter just to sign them in the long run. This man is freaking joke. Lets see Brock gets a free championship, Kimbo was trashed talked and signed, Jake Shields trashed in signed, Fedor is trashed, but is begged to be signed, Rampage, Big Nog, Hendo, Heath Herring, and so many others. Im so Anti-UFC now i cant stand it.|||And 'Babalu' getting a shot at 'King' Mo, even though he was trashed by Gegard, i don't like it, i would rather see 'Feijao' get a shot even though he hasn't face one of the upper tier fighters in SF yet unless you count Britt, i honestly believe 'Feijao' would beat Mo convincingly.|||

Beating Randy Couture does not count as a 'free' championship.
And at least guys in the UFC aren't afraid to fight the champions.....*cough* Fedor (well, more so M-1 his management) *cough cough*.
Oh. and lets not forget that Rogers really was handed a free shot at the title because M-1 was too busy figuring out how not to fight Alistair Overeem :)|||Granted Rogers did get a free shot, but that would be like Carwin getting a shot at Brock. He did enough to get a shot. Brock did not. We must all be honest with this fact. Carwin, Reem, Mir, Randy, Josh Barnett, deserve shots against Fedor. Brock is 5-1 why should he even get a chance other than the fact he "UFC paper Champ". The numbers speak for themselves. Not popularity.|||i agree that lesnar got the "fast track" to the the belt due to his drawing power...
but you know what? he won the fight. pretty dominant fashion too. legit IMO.
its up to fedor to make those fights happen. and it prob wont. given up hope on that awhile ago.|||

No it wouldn't.
Rogers lost his last fight before fighting against Overeem for a title.
Carwin has won 12 straight fights in a row and is now about to fight for the belt. You shouldn't be handed a tilte fight coming directly off of a loss. I really don't see how you can argue for that logic. At least Carwin hasn't lost yet, or before he is fighting for the title.|||My example was Rogers fighting Fedor for the belt not when i fought Reem. In the case of him fighting Reem for the belt after a loss I totally agree with you in that aspect. And didnt felt he deserved a title shot.|||NO WAY carwin got a free shot @ title. of course, i thought it perfect when he was sched to fight cain for the right for the fight, but they were obviously not looking to knock off ALL the HW contendors so soon. makes sense IMO.
dude has earned his shot no doubt. 12-0. think his subs/KOs are split evenly. crazy. hasnt fought past the 1st round.
this sh*t screams title contender...|||

rogers seemed like logical choice @ the time due to the circumstances @ the time (reem). was coming off big win over name fighter (arlovski). SF didnt have many options.
i think he talked his way into the fight with reem and SF has to have more HW fights than just fedor. rogers had a name there for a bit and stock rose in his fight w/fedor. hes a relevant HW fighter for SF IMO.|||

I'm confused here, Rogers didn't fight Fedor for a belt.
Unless the 'Imagination Land' WAMMA belt was up for grabs in that fight lol.
If you mean the possibility of 'Reem fighting Rogers before Fedor was signed, then you still kind of don't have a point. From what I remember, that fight was only talked about, but never signed because 'Reem wanted to do the K-1 stuff.
I won't disagree that were Rogers to have fought Overeem for the belt before Fedor was signed to SF, then yeah, that would have made more sense. But that isn't at all how it actually played out.|||Brett Rogers did fight for teh WAMMA belt...I dont understand how strikeforce allows 2 heavyweight belts|||

The 'WAMMA' belt is not an SF belt. Its a 'lifetime' achievement award that.....Fedor and M-1 basically created and awarded themselves haha (kidding, well, sorta).
In all seriousness, here is the defenition of it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Alliance_of_Mixed_Martial_Arts
Its basically a B.S. belt that doesn't mean anything.
