Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Episode 3

Here it is, Dirrtybird's Ultimate Fighter Season 10 Episode 3 round up.
So the big fight. Kimbo Slice vs. Big Country. Honestly, I think Kimbo deserves another shot. All Big Country did was lay on him. Granted it was a smart move to pull to side control and get him in a crucifix position. It was very Matt Hughes but those punches weren't doing a lot of damage. At the end of the first round, Kimbo still looked fresh and like those punches never happened. I will admit that Herb Dean did let the fight go on a little longer then normal at the end of the first. Most refs would have called the fight then.
I don't think Kimbo was out at the second round or at the end of the first, he just didn't know what to do or where to go. His lack of ground game really hurt him. Also the fact that he probably had what looked like 100 pounds of chewed bubble gum rubbing all over his face didn't help either.
Nelson was getting worked on stand up. If Kimbo didn't throw that knee in the second round I think he could have pushed him away and Kimbo could have kept the round standing up. Nelson was already looking kind of gassed going into the second round. He still had some left in the tank but it wasn't much.
I really hope Kimbo gets a second shot and he gets a chance to fight Nelson again. Nelson really looked bad for how much experience he has. His stand up should have looked a lot better. Even when he had full mount in the first round he didn't capitalize on it. Rashad was screaming "Push on the head" yet he just laid there. Again for someone that has that much experience, the fight should have been over then.
Your thoughts?|||Nothing to add other then that I would like to see Kimbo fight again, and this time against someone not as fat as Roy Nelson. :)|||Bash me if you want if you don't agree, but Roy did a smart thing to take it to the ground where he is a lot more experienced than Kimbo in terms of that. Kimbo showed a really weak ground game and he needs to work on defending it, both the takedowns and mounts. Once he kicked himself up a bit off the cage in the first round, he had no idea what to do. It was like as if Kimbo had to bake a certain cake but the instructions were in Russian. And it doesn't help that all Rampage says is, "Get up! You gotta stand up," like as if it's easy for Kimbo to just stand up.
As for the stand-up, yes Kimbo was clearly the better of the two. In my opinion, I think Roy was actually a bit intimidated on punching Kimbo back. He looked like he was just waiting for the take down opportunity, even if it meant he takes a few to the face, which was very risky.
The first thing Kimbo needs to improve on are sprawls and elbow escapes. With those he can atleast put up more of a fighting chance, even if a gigantic flubber laid on him.
So what can I say? I wasn't impressed by either one. Kimbo has decent stand-up to say the least but that doesn't help that much if someone grapples with him. Roy was just annoying me. Acting like he just knocked out Fedor where all he really did was exploit some of the rules in MMA. As of now I don't see either of these two making it to the UFC, but hey, you never know. These two guys may be able to turn it all around by the end of the season so I guess we should wait and see what happens to these two.
With that said, I did find Roy's comments a bit funny right after the fight. "Can I get a double cheeseburger? No pickles."|||

He definitely did a smart thing by taking him to the ground. My problem was that he really never did anything other then side control and crucifix. He just kind of laid there rubbing his stomach all over Kimbo's face. Even when he had the mount he just laid there. For someone with that much experience he looked really really bad.|||Too true, exploited the intellegently defending yourself rule.
Fat country just looked horrible overall, especially when you break the fight down and see that Kimbo is novice on the ground at BEST and Roy is suppose to be something special, he will be gone soon no doubt.
kudos to kimbo for not suffocating, i was most worried about that... |||

Yeah Fat Country is weaksauce, what a weak way to win a fight. Kimbo definatly deserves another shot and if I was Dana I would tell fatsauce if he gives another performance like that he will be booted off the show. I cannot stand it when fat fighters just lay on their opponants all fight. I bet Kimbo didnt even get a headache from those 6 year old girl punches.
