Batista gets a lot of negativity because he has literally ZERO background in any Martial Arts.
He was a bodybuilder and a bouncer at a bar.
He wrestled professionally, but we all know (at least I hope you all know :p ) that holds no merit.
Batista is clearly a big guy who thinks he's tough.
Herschel Walker played professional Football.
Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar both have amateur wrestling pedigrees.

i like walker alot but i hate the idea of freackshow vs. freakshow put them against cans exept meybe lashley he might be decent.|||MMA is a sport for everyone not just former athletes, martial artist, and wrestlers. If so tired of this discrimination by so called fans of the sport. Ive heard so many reasons why certain people should not be involved in the sport based on race, nationality, background, and sex. This sport is not rocket science and anyone with the heart and willingness to learn can do well and be proficient. If you look at Kimbo, Walker, Brock, Lashley, Jose, The polish strongman winner i cant remember his name, and James Toney are all taking this sport seriously and are trying to break the mold and be part of something great. True fans should embrace the fact that others are interested in a sport that was once and to some still considered "human cockfighting". I do agree that money plays a part in some of these issues, but that just shows how well the sport is growing. Batista could learn the game and be quite a contender if he train well and might surprise a lot of people. I will never deny or look down on anyone that is willing to learn and take the sport seriously. I have been in martial arts since i was 12 years old and now teach and train at the age of 30. I have been told through out those years that i couldnt make it, that my background didnt allow my to be proficient at the arts, that i needed needed this or didnt have that. Now, when it is all said and done i have accomplished all that was said couldnt be done. We need to help make the sport grow not give people a reason to turn away from it.|||

i agree with your post man, but theres no way you can convince me that Jose, Pudz, Toney & prob even Kimbo are taking or took MMA seriously.
& this Batista dude taking up MMA @ 40+ with no exp or background in any combat sport should be called what it is. money, publicity, & exposure. i understand it, just dont try & sell it to me as a legit MMA fight.
and it does p*ss me off that Batista being on a main card takes away endorsement opps, potential fights & exposure for real fighters that dedicated much longer time to the craft. again, i get it, just don't sell it to me as a 'fight people want to see'.|||

I get "mad" for a simple reason:
When you look at pro wrestling in the beginning they were "normal" athletes now they all are Musclepackages.
Same for K1 at the beginning they look like human, then they start to "grow".
And now look at mma, it looks for me like more and more anabolic is on the way.
I don´t like this super athletes this has nothing to do with Martial Arts it´s more like a freak show.
Just my opinion.
I think most people don´t like him, because he is a pro wrestler, like MMA>Wrestling? Something like this.

He also trained Tai-Kwon-Do for a veyr long time too, so at least he has something|||Why would it be bad for anyone to take up MMA?At least he's giving it a go,which is more than i can say for some people.Everyone has to start somewhere.
