Holy crap......

Holy crap, Overeem vs Werdum and then maybe................................if they both win
Overeem vs Fedor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)
Strikeforce FTW|||Alternate fights, lets hope Del Rosario takes Barnett's place
. Shane Del Rosario (10-0) vs. Lavar Johnson (15-3)
And Ray Sefo (2-0) vs. Valentijn Overeem (28-25)|||Feels like it's gonna be a great year to be an MMA fan regarding the HW division... which has always been my favorite weightclass.
And yeah, my money is on seeing Overeem/Fedor. Overeem should be able to ko Werdum np as long as he plays it conservative and stays on the feet and Fedor should have no problem completely out working Silva for what I expect to be an early 1st round TKO.|||i wish fedor/overeem was the championship fight that would make it even cooler. still phyched for it.|||

Ditto. I was kind of confused when i first saw the brackets, thinking they had the opportunity to build up to an EPIC bout but dropped the ball.
But the way its set up now is SAFE. it gives us the fights most feel need to happen immediately...I would assume this is their thinking...
Werdum/Overeem determines the champion.
Both Silva & Fedor are 1 fight away from a title shot - this fight determines who gets it.
The other half of the tourney determines the #1 contender for a title shot.
like i said in earlier post, Announcing this ahead of time is a brilliant move by SF (IMO) to get fans hyped for the next events. besides, Im thinking it was working itself out this way on its own and now if anyone drops out or there is trouble getting a match made, its on the fighter/management & NOT SF.
We all know SF & M-1 have recently extended Fedor's contract with the tourney in mind. it would be damn near impossible for M-1 to renegotiate during the tourney now & they can no longer pick their opponents as it is all laid out in front of us. Its been reported as a 4 fight deal, & with 3 potential fights to win the tourney, there is absolutely no leverage to renegotiate before the tourney is complete (though im sure it begins before fight #4 if he wins it all).|||Alister Overeem should just walk into the cage vs Werdum, say "TAP", then walk out so he can get out of the champions clause and sign with the UFC.
Then Werdum should do the same in the semi-finals.|||

I'm not even gonna ask how you have '-7' posts lol -it seems self explanitory.|||ha the left side of the bracket is completely stacked with the best 4 guys while the right side... hopefully guaranteeing Alistair Fedor. hopefully.
don't even call that the finals|||

Nobody will be able to compare with Overeem and Fedor. However, Kharitonov and Barnett are beasts.
I would like to have seen Fedor and Overeem on opposite sides of the bracket but I understand why they decided to put them on the same side. Seeing Overeem vs Fedor is the most important thing about this tournament.|||

Cain Velasquez and Overeem area beasts...Kharitonov and Barnett are solid fighters at best.
Lets face it, the right side of the bracket is very underwhelming|||

Cain is a fighter that has only been in the cage for 4 years with only 9 fights. He had no prior striking or submission experience before he came to MMA. So, he's relatively new to every aspect except wrestling. He shows very good skills but he's hasn't even fought elite level talent yet. I think best guy he can probably say that he's fought is Ben Rothwell. Nog is on his way out and Lesnar is extremely raw and inexperienced. As of right now Cain has built himself off beating names, not beating talent.
On the other hand, Barnett and Kharitonov are some of the most well rounded fighters you are gonna see in MMA. Both guys are super experienced and have fought (and beat) some of the best guys in the world. I think both Kharitonov and Barnett could not only beat Cain but are better fighters at this point in time.|||Barnett is still world class and one of the most established HW's in MMA. Barnett vs anyone on the right will make a huge fight after this tournament. But, I anticipate this thing will fall apart at some point.|||

Maybe at one time, but meh. Not today IMO. Who has he really fought the last few years aside form other guys that aren't up to par anymore or never really were to prove he's still a 'beast' or 'world class'?
And Kharitinov hasn't done much since 2008 in MMA.
Theres talent here sure, bit I wouldn't call this 'elite' or 'beastly' talent by any means. Overeem and Fedor are the class of this tourney with Werdum and Silva counting in as dangerous opposition; the rest are either overrated (Rogers -Kharitinov) or over the hill past their prime guys (Arlovski -Barnett).
TBH, I really don't care about the 'Right side' of this tourney -I care about Overeem and Fedor if it can happen, or Werdum Vs Fedor. <------These fights have relevency in the MMA world depending on how they go. And that is what I care about here.
And why so skeptical about the tourney homez? You and Yari are quite the nay sayers here as of late. This is usually my job around here lol.|||Barnett was ranked at the top for years. He never lost to lose that position. If Barnett is over the hill, I'd like to see it first.
This also sounds too good to be true. Things like this have a history of falling apart at the seams. With Overeem's unwillingness to fight in the US, Fedor's negotiating power, and Barnett's licensing issues, I'm not going to set myself up for disappointment.|||

I was a fan back in the day, but do not agree with this. Barnett's been on the MMA equivalent of the senior circuit the last few years. I don't think the Yvels, Rizzos, Yoshidas & Monsons are enough to keep a top 5 or even 10 ranking. I don't mind the 'name' fights by any means, but @ some point you have to be testing yourself against the CURRENT top ranked competition to hold your position. I also understand WHY he had to take these fights, but that's his own damn fault.
and, IMO, being a 3x offender is reason enough to fall to the bottom and is def reason to be skeptical. Lets see what he can do W/O the 'help'.
I do agree with being skeptical of this tourney going down as planned, but all we can do there is hope. sh*t, with Reem, Barnett & Silva, the PED testing provide plenty of intrigue & be an event all in itself.
